Most users only understand submersible pumps but do not understand what self-priming pumps are, so they don’t know what is the difference between self-priming pumps and submersible pumps. Everyone knows that submersible pumps work in water, while self-priming pumps It is installed on the ground to suck the low water into the pump body and then the impeller throws it out of the pump body and transports it to higher and farther places.

Advantages of self-priming pumps and disadvantages of self-priming pumps
 1. Advantages of self-priming pump: The main part is located above the water surface, which is easy to maintain. The load distribution is relatively uniform, and the mechanical load per unit area is small. The lifting height is small, and the pump room height is low, so there is no need to move the power machine when disassembling. Water-lubricated bearings are few and can be eliminated. The total cost of self-priming pumps, transmissions and power machines is relatively cheap.
2. Disadvantages of self-priming pumps: large installation area and large machine room area. *It needs to be filled with water to start, the operation is complicated, and it is not easy to automate. The sealing requirements of the water inlet pipe are relatively strict and the air cannot be sucked into the pump body. The radial load has high requirements on the reliability of the bearing. When the water level in the inlet tank is high, the motor needs to be protected. If the water level in the inlet tank is too low and exceeds the effective suction range of the self-priming pump, it will not suck water.

The advantages of submersible pumps and the disadvantages of submersible pumps
1. The advantages of submersible pumps: the installation area of submersible pumps is small, the impeller is located under water, and the suction performance is better. Therefore, it can use higher speed without filling water to start, which is convenient for automation. The submersible pump with small size and light weight can also be easily moved and used, and it is convenient to carry.
2. Disadvantages of submersible pumps are mainly located below the water surface, which is inconvenient to maintain. The crane has a high lifting height, the pump room is high, the mechanical load is concentrated, the load per unit area is large, and the maintenance of water lubricated bearings is troublesome. The cables of frequently moving submersible pumps are easy to be damaged, and the cables need to be specially protected from being pulled during moving and use.

In summary, both self-priming pumps and submersible pumps have their own advantages and disadvantages. Users can only refer to the difference between self-priming pumps and submersible pumps based on their actual working conditions to choose a pump product suitable for their own use.
